Balance Druids brings utility to the raid, casting innervate on healers, using rebirth, increasing spell haste, and applying 13% spell power debuff. For guilds starting in ICC the Typhoon knockback can be a great addition in certain fights like Deathbringer Saurfang pushing the blood beasts and allowing more time to DPS. The big downside of Balance Druids is movement, where they can barely do any damage with the dots and might lose precious seconds of [Eclipse], lowering their DPS.
Rotation for Balance Druid Wotlk
Balance Druid Priorities
Faerie Fire (Keep debuff on boss) > Moonfire > Insect Swarm > Wrath until [Eclipse] proccs > Starfire until [Eclipse] proccs > Repeat [Eclipse] rotation and refresh Moonfire and Insect Swarm
Tips
Keep Moonfire and Insect Swarm on the target if the fight is lasting for more than 30 secs without clipping.
Movement is not ideal on [Eclipse] procs, however, moving too late in some effects will spell certain death. During movement Moonfire and Insect Swarm can be refreshed even with clipping.
At the end of a cast, an instant spell can be cast without occurring GCD. This is true for every cast/instant sequence, and should be used to maximize DPS.
Use CDs when there is barely any movement or crowd control effects to maximize DPS, the best way to do this is by knowing the fights.
